San Francisco Art

Book Fair

San Francisco Art Book Fair (SFABF) is a free annual multi-day exhibition and celebration of printed material from independent publishers, artists, designers, collectors, and enthusiasts from around the world. Launched in 2017, SFABF places the unique history and perspectives of the Bay Area in conversation with national and international publishing communities. One of the largest events at Minnesota Street Project, welcoming thousands of visitors annually, the fair features artists’ books, art catalogs, monographs, periodicals, zines, printed ephemera, and artists’ multiples. Visitors experience a diverse range of talks, performances, book launches, special projects, exhibitions, and signings across Minnesota Street Project’s contemporary art campus, as well as select off-site projects and events. Find out more at sfartbookfair.com!

1201 Minnesota Street

In May 2023, the Minnesota Street Project Foundation’s new building at 1201 Minnesota Street will open to the public. Located at Minnesota and 22nd Streets, the 20,000 square foot warehouse features a state-of-the-art large-scale video screening gallery, as well as programming and exhibition spaces. The activation of 1201 Minnesota on the Project’s contemporary arts campus, provides the Foundation with a unique opportunity to address a need in the Bay Area by providing space for large-scale art and video works that otherwise would not be accessible in the Bay Area.

Artist Studios Program

The Artist Studios Program, originally established in 2016 as part of the Project, was created to provide ongoing, long-term, sub-market studio spaces for artists struggling to find affordable space. The program moved under the Foundation in January 2023 to further expand its reach. The program has served hundreds of individual artists since its inception, and offers unparalleled stability, privacy and access to art-making facilities unavailable elsewhere in the Bay Area, such as an artist-run wood-shop, kiln, digital print lab, and dark room. By supporting the Artist Studios Program you can help expand the ability of artists to remain a vital force for the Bay Area.

Artist Emergency Relief Grants

Minnesota Street Project Foundation’s Artists Emergency Relief Grants offer financial resources to San Francisco Bay Area visual artists to cover unforeseen expenses resulting from ecological emergencies. In recognition that there are unforeseen circumstances in our community that impact artists ability to work, including restoration, storage, and temporary studio space, the Artist Emergency Relief Grants help ensure that artists have the capacity and ability to respond effectively to environmental disasters and emergencies. The program was launched in 2023 in support of artists impacted by the record-breaking rainfall and floods in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Artist Emergency Relief Grants is funded in part from a grant from Minnesota Street Project Art Services.
